New Orleans
I am keeping my New Orleans entry as the only entry on my blog. I have it linked on various travel sites and do not feel like moving it over to my new blog's site.
You can find the full entries on my old journal site. They are housed there due to the length of each entry.

Wonderful entries, Erin - thanks for sharing that. And your pictures are great. You're right - a lot of the time, they express the things that can't be put into words. And as flooded (sorry) as we were with the news coverage of these areas at the time, it worries me how little we're hearing (at least up here) about what's happening there now. You've definitely made me wish to go visit New Orleans.

Thanks so much Erin. The pictures are amazing, both beautiful and tragic. People have the attention span of knats and just think that after tragedies like this the areas affected need to just clean up and move on. That's what most in the midwest thought about NYC after 9/11.
It never ceases to amaze me that people forget about, or conveniently ignore, the emotional damage. I don't know how you can be human and not have some grasp for that. Thanks for being someone else who gets it and has a heart.

Thanks guys. I really wanted to share what I saw because seeing it on the news just doesn't show how much destruction there is down there.

Nice writing Erin. We definitely have some things in common regarding New Orleans. I have a blog also and recommend to my students that they start writing as well. There is, I think, a rennaisance of self-expression through writing that stimulates the mind.

Wow. I just got around to reading ALL of the entries (previous and next buttons confuse me, apparently). The picture of the doll broke my heart.
This totally makes me want to go to New Orleans - I feel bad that I have forgotten what they're still going through!

Hi there -- just wanted to thank you for this wonderful review. My husband and I both have an ongoing love affair with the city of New Orleans - though my husband's runs much deeper than mine. He lived there for a few months before we married, and he's always considered New Orleans his "home city". It calls to him, as it does me.
We too were planning a trip to NOLA for just weeks after the hurricane and had to cancel. We are now planning a trip back for my hubby's birthday, and are thinking of staying at the Place D'Armes. It's important to us to try to support the city that we both love so much.
I would also like to thank you for taking the tour, and for the pictures that you brought back. I am not sure if the two of us will have the strength to go see the devestation.
